Have you ever witnessed somebody doing an incredibly embarrassing action and you felt inclined to stop them or embarrassed for them? Well I ran into this realization when one of my favorite artist Kanye West made his mark on the 2009 VMA's. I will try my hardest not to be bias towards his inexcusable actions because of my love for West's music. When the camera cut away from Taylor Swift and it appeared to Kanye I knew only bad things were yet to come. Like all the other viewers of the awards, I don't know what was going through the head of Kanye when he ended up with the mic in his hands. Finally when Kanye broke silence and ultimately said that Beyonce should have been the recipient of the award Taylor Swift received, which was her first, the mood immediately changed.
Kanye West may have thought he was being funny, or just being him. He has openly apologized on the Jay Leno show saying that he knew he was wrong and he wish he never would've stole the shine of her first award. The backlash that the general public has given Kanye is not a positive one, artist like Pink, 50 Cent, and Pitt Bull has openly said Kanye couldn't be more wrong for what he did.
My personal outlook on his actions and personality is the following. Kanye has always been outspoken and controversial, he accused President Bush of being racist in the past and presently stole the show at the VMA's. It is safe to say he has established himself as a strong personality in the entertainment world.
